Applying Systems Engineering to projects is often regarded as simply the application of common sense! This application of common sense such as, controlling external interfaces, leads to reducing the overall risk on the project. All of us who have worked on big and small projects know that project risk is very real and if not treated with respect can have devastating effects.
The evidence from the SE research1 shows that by reducing the risk on the project through the practice of SE, subsequently increases the probability of meeting cost and schedule.
